Why everyone should learn how to cook:
We grow lots of veggies, fruit and herbs in our garden so sometimes I use them for cooking and baking.
At the moment we have tomatoes, pumpkin, and lots of different herbs like thyme, parsley and coriander.
When you make your own food you can choose what you put in it, and you know that it is going to be healthy.
When you cook for and with your family and friends it creates time to spend together.
Cooking activities are a great way to express your creativity. You can create the things that you like to eat. Try new things, experiment with food!
When you cook you use skills like measuring ingredients like cups, Tbsp, tsp and more. It's a great way to use the knowledge that you learn in school.
Cooking can create a culture of giving and receiving kindness to the people around you.
If someone is sick, people will take food to them to help so they don’t have to cook. We can show how much we care about people by cooking for them when they need some help.
You’re so right Charlotte cooking certainly does bring family together. That was something that happened a lot over lockdown families cooking and baking together. You’re very lucky having a garden to pick fresh vegetables and herbs from. I love watching cooking programs as you say you can be really creative. It certainly does bring people together and a fabulous way to help people out when they aren’t managing.
